DEAR FRIENDS, It is our great pleasure to invite you to be a part of an international youth camp. We are located in Pirot district (Municipalities of Pirot and Babusnica), at the South-East of Serbia – a fascinating place full of beautiful nature, history, tradition and culture. If you want to live a truly Serbian experience that combines Serbia’s best food, mix of traditions, culture and postcard like sceneries, you should definitely visit PEP camps.
We prepared a unique experience for you!
WHO ARE WE?
We are NGOs from Serbia, NGO “PIROT E PUBLIKA” and NGO “VIEW FROM THE SOUTH”.
We invest in the youth and we pay attention to their voices, as an essential source of new ideas, creativity and artistic expression. Over national boundaries and stereotypes we want to promote interculturality and diversity that is a key value enriching us and our world. What kind of activities are we promoting? 
- education activities (education projects at schools through a non-formal education method focused on active citizenship, European conscience, fight against racism and xenophobia, human rights principles);
- cultural events (conferences, seminars, workshops, concerts, art exhibitions);
- intercultural activities (programs and projects of youth mobility, education on international topics, promotion of different cultures in Serbia and abroad, welcome activities for tourists and foreigners, promotion of Erasmus+ Program);
- territorial promotion (promotion of its typical aspects that regard artists, culture, heritage, enogastronomy, tourism, sport activities)
- educational activities consists of providing non-formal education opportunities for young people while involving as many as possible, and trying to include others that have never participated before. Our aim is to help youngsters develop their competences (life skills) by using non-formal learning tools. We try to educate youngsters on a peaceful cohabitation with people coming from different cultures, countries and social conditions by giving them the opportunity to confront themselves with others in an intercultural environment which stimulates the development of a social conscience.
– NGO “Pirot E Publika” is a non-profit organization from Pirot, South-East Serbia. As most active organization which works with and for youth in Pirot district, our field of activities is mostly field of education and minorities/social responsibility. In 2013 we are awarded as a best organization in Serbia among those who works with youth from vulnerable groups and in 2014 we received the award for connecting youth and local government. For years we are organizing the biggest camp in Serbia and wider, with more than 200 people from all over the world coming every year to strenghten rural communities in South-East Serbia. Camp was pronounced as one of the 10 best projects in 2013 by Umbrella Youth Organization of Serbia.

– NGO “View from the South” has officially been registered in 2013 by a couple of people who were willing to change their environment, environmental thinking and attitude of the population towards young people and vice versa. After two years of existence, the association gathers 15 active members, 20 volunteers and a huge number of supporters who follow and support the work of the association. During 2014 and 2015, the association has implemented the project “Youth Club”. Through this project, the “Youth Club” in Babusnica, as well as the “First Photo Club” in Babusnica.

WHEN IS THE SUMMER CAMP TAKING PLACE? 20-28 JUNE 2015!
WHY A SUMMER CAMP?
Our camps are a non-formal learning proposals for young people coming from many different countries and cultures. Camp projects are a living way to share culture, supporting non-profit world and developing local community traditions, promoting ideals of solidarity and citizenship. The aim of the activities, besides the realization of the projects, is to contribute to the creation of a multicultural society based on discussion between different people. Our aim is to work at local and global levels. We believe that the presence in international camps of volunteers, coming from various countries and social backgrounds, brings us closer to this goal; thus, allowing local or isolated communities to get in touch with different cultures, and to learn and communicate with them. We want to promote solidarity in a constructive way, not free assistance: practical help can be useful to overcome emergencies, but we prefer to provide tools and methods that can be used in order to build the Future…
We will make village Strelac alive this summer! We are going to be socially responsible and help kids from boarding school for socially endangered children from Pirot region, by improving their facilities. Also, we’ll help people from the village by painting the bridge, building a fence around the football court and more!

– Leisure activities to enjoy your free time, being in contact with local community and share their culture
– Place for sleeping (place to put tents/bed/matres) and food

- Contribute with energy and action, to the daily life of the camp as a group member
- Work about 30 hours per week

WHERE IS THE CAMP GOING TO TAKE PLACE?
Camp will take place in village Strelac is a small village in Pirot District, Municipality of Babusnica (South-East Serbia), full of history and traditions,hospitality, atmosphere, and of course incredible nature. It’s one of the most beautiful parts in Serbia. Nature, tradition, mountains, valleys and food – so goes the local saying is a perfect synthesis of this land. In the village there is a town called Sagittarius Mogilika, where in 1906 a complete Roman military equipment was found, a town traces can still be seen. PRACTICAL INFORMATION
WHEN
20-28 JUNE 2015
FOOD
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be prepared at the accommodation’s facility. Some of the days we will spend time outdoors, hiking, so packed lunch will be provided.
ACCOMMODATION
You will be accommodated in a local, boarding school for socially endangered children from Pirot region, inside, and outside, in the yard. School has 30 beds, bathrooms inside, with a shower. Participants will also be responsible for cleaning the school and the yard and keeping them tidy. Participants are responsible for any damage caused by indecent behavior or lack of attention and will have to cover the cost.
FREE TIME
During free time you can spend time in a beautiful nature around village Strelac. You can do fishing, play tennis table, football, basketball and other summer activities, but you will also learn how to play game called flunky ball. Excursion to the special nature reserve “Jerma” will be organized. You will have a chance to see the narrowest gorge in Serbia, old mine with abandoned railroad, old stone bridge, monasteries from 13th century and more!
INSURANCE POLICY IN SERBIA SUMMER CAMPS
We do not provide insurance, but we are recommending that you take one. We will have doctor in the village where the camp is taking place.
CLIMATE
The territory of Pirot District has a Mediterranean climate, with cold winters and hot summers. In June, it is expected to be worm, it’s the best time to be in the village.

PAYMENT INFO & COST
PARTICIPATION FEE IS 80 EUROS FOR PARTICIPANTS WHO ARE NOT FROM SERBIA, AND50 EUROS FOR PARTICIPANTS FROM SERBIA!
IT INCLUDES:
- 30 beds (for 30 applicants who apply first)
- Place to put tent or matress inside the boarding school or outside, in the yard
- Full board
- Food according to the programme (3 meals per day)
- Coffee/Tea
- Excursion
THE FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Individual travel arrangement to get to/leave from Pirot from your country or town, neither transportation to/from the airport to the residence. In case you need, we can arrange a shuttle bus from/to airport (see fee above). Please, book in advance to reach our venue faster, cheaper and more comfortably.
- Visa related costs. Costs for extra days or individual diet.
